KLGI Institute gains experience from Central European University

In the premises of KLGI, Mr. Besnik Tahiri, Executive Director of the Institute, met with Dr. Bernhard Knoll-Tudor, Director of Central European University's Global Policy Academy located in Budapest.

Dr. Knoll-Tudor is visiting Kosovo with the aim of exchanging experiences in the field of professional education between the CEU School of Public Policy and government and non-government actors, including the Local Governance Academy (LGA) led by KLGI Institute. Dr Knoll-Tudor's experience in Kosovo goes back to the early days of of democratic institution building. He served with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo as Policy Adviser between 2000-2002 and later with UNMIK as Temporary Media Commissioner. In his doctorate, published at Cambridge University Press, he analysed Kosovo's "subjectivity" in international law and its right to self-determination.

Among other topics, Tahiri and Knoll-Tudor discussed how to enhance cooperation in order to strengthen the capacities of municipal officials. Tahiri spoke about the present state of local goverment and also expressed his interest in enhancing municipal reform in line with international best practice. In this context, Tahiri informed Knoll-Tudor about KLGI's efforts in strengthening municipal capacities towards attaining functionality and sustainability.

They agreed to intensify the exchange of experiences in the field of advanced professional trainings.
